Status for: Land Cover/Dynamics (MCD12)
Validation at stage 2 has been achieved for the MODIS C6 Land Cover product.
The accuracy of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) layer of the MODIS Collection 6 Land Cover Type product (MCD12Q1) is estimated to be 73.6% globally. There is no globally comprehensive data set of independent, probability sample-based validation data available. Hence, the estimate is supported by quantitative analysis using cross-validation of a training site database.
The accuracy of the MODIS Global Land Cover Dynamics product (MCD12Q2), also known as the vegetation phenology product, is currently still being evaluated, and a validation statement for this product will be forthcoming once the evaluation is complete.
Product version: Collection 6.1
